Cheryl Rahal, D.V.M., dipl. ACVIM Dr. Rahal moved to Phoenix in February of 2001. Dr. Rahal received a BS in Zoology from the University of Washington, Seattle in December 1988, doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in Pullman, WA in May 1994, and earned Board Certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in August 1999 after completing a 3 year residency program in Equine Medicine at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of University of California-Davis. Dr. Rahal’s primary interests stem from her personal equestrian experiences. She developed an early interest in perinatology, growing up on her family’s boarding and breeding farm. Perinatology, which is now one of Dr. Rahal’s areas of expertise, involves the management of broodmares and foals including the care of critically ill foals. Secondly, Dr. Rahal’s interest in equine sports medicine and exercise physiology stems from her personal experience in competitive trail or endurance riding. Although Equine Medicine has been her focus, Dr. Rahal has altered her career path to fit the needs of her family and community. Dr. Rahal opened the North Valley Animal Emergency Clinic in the summer of 2004, empasizing her compassion for critical care.
